AI Transparency Notice

Every film, cover frame and sample image on this site was produced by generative AI models. Nothing is photography. No real person appears in any frame. No scene shown anywhere on this site is a recording of a real event.

The same is true of the pictures used in the gallery, on the style pages and behind the headings — they are all model output, generated for this site.

Every film and cover frame leaves the service carrying signed content credentials in the C2PA format, written into the file at the moment it is produced. The manifest asserts:

• That the asset was generated by an AI model, not captured by a camera.
• Which generator produced it.
• When it was produced, as a timestamp.
• Whether a visible watermark was applied.

The manifest is cryptographically signed, so tampering with the file or the claim can be detected. Any C2PA-aware tool or viewer can read it without needing anything from us.

In addition, standard file metadata fields carry a plain-language statement that the file is AI-generated, for tools that do not yet read C2PA.

• Free plan films carry a visible watermark burnt into the picture. It must not be removed, cropped out or obscured.
• All plans — the result screen states plainly that the film is AI-generated before you download it, and every sample shown on this site is labelled on the frame.

Paid plan films do not carry a visible watermark, so that they can be used commercially — but they still carry the full machine-readable provenance described above.

Synthetic video should be identifiable as synthetic without anyone having to guess. That is a reasonable thing for a service like this to do regardless of where a viewer lives.

It also aligns with Article 50 of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, which requires providers of generative AI systems to mark synthetic audio, image, video and text output in a machine-readable format that is detectable as artificially generated, with transparency obligations applying from 2 August 2026. Somnique launched after that date and marks output from day one rather than relying on any transitional arrangement.

• Do not remove, alter, obscure or strip the provenance metadata.
• Do not remove, crop out or cover the visible watermark on free output.
• Do not present a film from this service as a photograph, as a recording of real events, or as the work of a human artist.
• Do not use a film to mislead anyone about a real person, event, organisation or product.

These are conditions of the licence you receive. Breaking them is a breach of the Acceptable Use Policy.

Somnique uses a language model to turn your description into a short shot list, and a video model to render each shot. Both interpret rather than reproduce. Setting, mood, palette and main subject come back reliably. Exact faces, exact counts of objects, and lettering do not — which is why text is kept out of frames entirely and why no real person is ever depicted.
